I want a 2x teleconverter for my Sony Alpha A350, but should i buy the more expensive one?

there are smaller japanese makes which are alot cheaper, but are they as good, im sure the more expensive - £200-300 is much better for clarity and quality, but is there really much difference?
thanks.

As long as the lenses you wan to use with it are compatible. Usually only lenses longer than 200 mm and have apertures wider than f/5.6 will work with such converters. It would be a shame to spend £200-300 for something you cannot use in the end.

The differences between OEM teleconverters and generics will show up in edge sharpness and colour aberrations some of the generic ones can even induce lens flare. There should also be a list of lenses that cannot auto-focus using the teleconverter

Just do your research before you spend a penny and you should end up with what you need
