I have Nikon D40 with 18-55mm lens (complete VR Kit) of 8 months old. It is only 6.1 megapixel camera. What is the resale value of the Nikon D40. I want to buy Nikon D70 by selling my D40. Can I exchange my D40 in Nikon any of Dealers in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. If yes, how much I have to spend more for D70 kit. Thanks.
hmm you do know that the D70 is an older camera than the D40, right? so you'd actually be getting a WORSE camera... I dunno about India but its about $300-$325 used here in the US without a lens...
Answer by EBA on 08 Jan 2010 01:06:03Six years ago I was shooting commercial photography with a 6 mp DSLR. Many of those photos are still selling as stock images.
I have a colleague who uses the same Nikon D40 to shoot professional sports photos for the NBA, WNBA and NCAA. The D40 actually has features that are more powerful than the older Nikon D70. Both can sync with flash as shutter speeds much higher than all the other DSLR's including the Nikon D3x ($8,000).
My guess is you are switching cameras to get a sensor with a higher pixel count. This is not a very practical reason to buy a different camera.

Instead of spending money to buy an older camera with a slightly higher pixel count, spend that money on a second lens. You will be much further ahead with your quest to improve your images.
