Nikon S610 yellow pictures?

ive had the nikon s610 for a while now.
not the s610c just the regular s610.
every since i first used it took really yellow pictures [indoors, with lights on/at night] especially when using flash.
is there a mode or setup to make it normal colors?
sometimes though when i don't use flash or when i change the white balance its good but i would like to use flash!
any help? :)

The yellow color cast is caused by indoor lights having a different color temperature than sunlight. The S610 doesn't always pick up on this in automatic mode and your solution of manually changing the white balance is the correct way to go.

When using the built-in flash in combination with artificial light, you introduce another problem. Since the flash (which produces the same color temperature as sunlight) is only effective up to a few feet, you end up with a mismatch between the light from the flash and the ambient light. With a pro flash you'd stick a color filter on the flash head to match the ambient light and then set your white balance to that. With tiny built-in flashes, however, this isn't practical because:
* a built-in flash is weak to begin with and adding a color filter only weakens it more,
* the camera can't meter properly with a color filter over the flash so the exposure would be wrong.

So the flash problem is a shortcoming you'll have to live with... either that or upgrade your camera to a dSLR with an external flash.

Or use an old trick to live with the problem and not notice it: convert your shots to black and white.
