where can i get the battery changed for my asahi pentax k1000 camera...ie the light meter?

the light meter isn't working and i can't find a place to change it for me. I know it needs a LR44 battery but ritz camera and radio shack were no help.

LR44 is very common. Check hardware shops, photo shops, drugstores and watch repair shops. You can change it yourself. All you need is a small coin to open the hatch at the bottom of the camera. Take note of the battery orientation before you pull the old ones out.

If you're able to find SR44 batteries, use them. LR44 are cheaper, put vary in voltage along it's life, thus meter readings vary from time to time. It isn't critical for negative film, but for slide, it's worth the extra price of the SR44.
