what would be the best value lens for shooting wildlife for my canon xsi SLR?

Best Answer

There are many telephoto zoom lenses out there. Some go up to 200mm telephoto but I would aim for one that goes higher to 250mm or 300mm. There are zooms that go 75-300mm.

I would also consider one of the respected independent lens makers, like Tamron, Sigma, and Tokina, I listed links to their websites below. I have owned lenses made by these companies and they have worked fine.

Also I added photo.net that has a large online photo community with discussion forums where you can ask other Canon users what they would suggest. These some photo dealer website links to help you shop but also there are customer reviews at B&H Photo and Adorama.

Hope this helps.
